Another 1.1.2
1.1.2… The release that won’t die.
So, Kris IM’d me and told me to make a release and change the api endpoints. So I did, and then this happened, so I have to change them back.
Which I did.
So now we have the third release of 1.1.2.
Enjoy… There shouldn’t be any more 404 errors.

Hi, returning to the Picasa question
Did you see this - http://code.google.com/apis/picasaweb/overview.html
March 25th, 2007 at 11:23 am
Eugene,
Not at this time, but I’ll post and see if anyone wants to write a plugin.
March 25th, 2007 at 9:15 pm
Hey!
I’m not sure if this is the appropriate place to ask, but I’m curious:
How hard would it be to programatically start jUploadr, load it full of photos *with* their metadata?
The reason I ask is that I’m using a tool called idImager that does a wonderful job cataloguing items, and exports a XPM file, as well as allows me hooks to script metadata push/pulling. I’m just trying to figure out how to hook that up so I don’t have to retype all my tags into Zooomr/Flickr.
Anyhow, any thoughts on the level of difficulty (or if jUploadr isn’t something I should be looking at for this) would be appreciated!
Thanks!

It depends, how well do you know java? As I see it, you’d have to parse the XPM file, associate it with a jpeg and then add it to jUploadr, it shouldn’t be too hard if you know Java.

trying to upload to zooomr, i am getting immediate errors on every photo larger than 1mb.. why is that?
March 26th, 2007 at 8:00 am
I can try to implement such plugin if you help with jUploadr sources and instructions which interfaces I have to implement
March 26th, 2007 at 6:06 pm
Daniel,
I have no idea, have you tried contacting Zooomr about this? jUploadr has uploaded many files larger than one megabyte, and if it doesn’t crash, it’s just reporting an error message from Zooomr.
Eugene,
I will help you as much as you need. You should try to start here and see how far you get. I want to improve this documentation to give you (or any other plugin implementor) all the information they need to write plugins.

Hi Steve, I’ve been using jUploadr for Zooomr for a while now, and it’s been a great. Thanks for all your work!
Apologies in advance if this is the wrong place to raise a feature request.
I’ve got just one request to make which is to have the license as one of the editable attributes for each photo. Zooomr defaults all photos under the “All Rights Reserved” license so it will be great if I can switch to one of the Creative Commons licenses from jUploadr.
March 31st, 2007 at 11:15 am
I am getting this when I run jUploadr:
Exception in thread “main” java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/scohen/juploadr/app/JUploadr
I’ve extracted jUploadr to ~/programs/jUploadr, and I run it there with “./jUploadr”
I am running Xubuntu 6.10. Doing a “java -version” gives me:
java version “1.6.0″
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0-b105)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.6.0-b105, mixed mode, sharing)
Any ideas?

April 9th, 2007 at 2:04 pm
Serkan,
It’s included with jUploadr in CVS and in the jUploadr binaries.
It’s from the Jim project.

i totally second that picasa plugin request!

How do I download this application? I’m confused. I don’t see a download link anywhere.
April 15th, 2007 at 1:01 pm
I’d like to use your tool on my GNU/Linux system, however, when I run it, I get the following error:
GCJ is an incompatible version of java
Download the official version at http://java.sun.com
Until Sun Microsystems does release Java under the GPL, as they announced they were going to do, I am unable to (ethically) install Sun’s JRE on my system. Are there any plans in the future for making jUploadr compatible with GCJ?
April 16th, 2007 at 12:25 pm
Hank:
I switched to juploadr.org, and somehow my theme reverted to wordpress’s default. You should see download links now. I’m really sorry about that.
Christopher:
I don’t know what to tell you other than GCJ is woefully inadequate. I’m sorry that jUploadr doesn’t work with GCJ, but frankly, GCJ is nowhere near ready for release, and I don’t want to spend my time figuring out how to write preferences on three different platforms solely to sate your ideology. It’s a non-trivial job that is handled very well by Java. That’s why I went with it in the first place.
Furthermore, you’re ideologically bound to not install Java even knowing that sun will open source it in the very near future? That’s kinda nuts.
I’ve written up some thoughts on GCJ here if you’re interested, but I think you won’t like the outcome.

Hi, thanks for a handy little app! I have problems dropping photos on Juploadr (1.1.2 on Mac OS X 10.4.9). Juploadr won’t accept my large JPEG originals (3456×2304px/3,1 MB), but smaller ones work (say, 640×780/70 kB, or 1536×2048/1,0MB). And yes, I downloaded the latest dmg, but to no avail.

Johan,
Do they spring back to the finder window after a while?
I’ve seen this happen before, I’m not sure what I did to fix it, but I’ll check it out on my powerbook and see if I can reproduce. I too have 10.4.9.
Are you running Java 1.5 or 1.4?
May 3rd, 2007 at 1:22 pm
@Scohen: Not sure what you mean by springing back to the Finder window, so I guess they don’t… The big pics simply won’t go into the Juploadr window when I drag them from Iphoto, but the small ones stick there so that I can upload them to Flickr.
May 3rd, 2007 at 1:30 pm
Oh, and I’m not sure what version of Java I’m running. How do I check?
The Java stuff (JavaApplicationLauncher, JavaCarbonSupport etc) in System Profiler has version numbers like 11.4.2 and 11.5.0.
My Iphoto version is 6.0.6.
May 4th, 2007 at 8:59 am
Johan,
If you navigate to the iPhoto directories via finder and drag & drop, does jUploadr accept the photos?
jUploadr itself has no limits on file size. However, it does have a limit on what types of photos you can drop on it. If they’re not a png, gif or jpeg, you’re out of luck. You might want to check and make sure that the large photos aren’t in RAW format.

Hi, I’d love to use this handy little app, but as soon as it attempts to authorize itself for flickr, it hangs. I have the latest JRE installed, and XP pro. Any idea how to fix this?
May 7th, 2007 at 11:14 am
Meph,
I assume you’re using 1.6? Have you tried using 1.5? IIRC, I had a couple of complaints with vista, but maybe the latest Java release (1.6) changed the registry keys I rely upon.
Email me at steve at juploadr dot org, and I’ll get you set up.

Hello,
Zooomr mark III launched today but the current release of juploadr doesnt work .I guess the URL’s need to be updated to the new site. Have you heard from Kristopher and do you plan a new release sometime soon ?
Thanks
June 4th, 2007 at 11:15 am
venkrat:
Yes, I’m in touch with Kris and right now there are other issues that are taking up his time. I have a new release all set to go and waiting, but he has to do a couple things on his end first before I can release. It should all be smoothed out in a day or two.

Hi
Very excited about jUploader. I am running Suse 10.2, have managed to install it. I could not find any instructions. So I thought it must be really easy. However it has me stumped. I want to give all the photos the same title and maybe just change the description. I want them all to have the same privacy setting. I am doing this individually for each photograph. I would be grateful if you could point me in the direction of the instructions.
Regards

Sorry,
I found right click. Got it sorted now.
Bye.

Hey, I just downloaded the latest version of JUploadr for OS X. I’m running Leopard.
When I open the program I get this error.
“Could not load any photo upload plugins.”
Then the program quits.
